TAMPA, FEB. 14, 2015 – The Bulls dropped a pair of games to No. 11/14 Tennessee and Fordham on Saturday in the USF Presidents Day Weekend Tournament at the USF Softball Stadium.
In game one of the day, the Bulls hung tough with the 11th ranked Lady Vols (8-0) until a big fifth inning in which Tennessee scored five runs to bust the game wide open before going on to win 9-1.
Juli Weber had the lone RBI for the Bulls in the game with a single to center field in the third inning to cut the lead to 3-1.
USF's bats heated up in game two of the day but it wasn't enough to take down Fordham (5-4), as the Rams went on to win 14-6 in a game that went late into the night.
Morgan Litchfield led the Bulls at the plate, going 2-for-4 while picking up her first three RBIs of the season. Her second hit of the night tied the game at five and Cassidy Boyle singled later in the frame to give the Bulls a 6-5 lead heading into the sixth inning.
Unfortunately, the Rams offense exploded for eight runs in the top of the sixth to put the game out of reach and hand USF (5-4) its second consecutive loss.
The Bulls conclude play at the USF Presidents Day Weekend Tournament on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., with a game against in-state foe Florida Gulf Coast. Purchase tickets HERE.
