TAMPA, FEB. 18, 2015 – Three players dropped double-doubles on the same night as the USF women's basketball team used a balance attack to drive past Tulsa Wednesday night in the Sun Dome, 79-46.

The Bulls (21-5 Overall, 12-2 The American) used 36 bench points and had five different players score at least 11, cruising past the Golden Hurricane and making history in the process, becoming the winningest regular season team in program history.

Getting off to a hot start, USF used six early steals to jump out to a 21-3 lead in the first 10 minutes, and never looked back. The Bulls held an 11-0 edge on fastbreak points in the first half, with juniors Alisia Jenkins and Shalethia Stringfield leading the way, scoring 13 and nine points, respectively to help build a 13-point first-half lead.

The Bulls didn't let off the gas in the first eight minutes of the second half, quickly extending the lead into the 30's, with 30 of the team's 43 second-half points coming from underclassmen. Freshmen Laura Ferreira and Maria Jespersen dropped nine second-half points apiece as the duo each collected their first double-double of their careers. Jespersen set career highs in points (13) and rebounds (11), while Ferreira recorded her ninth double-digit performance of the season, and added a career-best 11 rebounds in the win.

“Before the game, Coach Fernandez said Tulsa's weakness was the glass, and we assaulted it,” Ferreira said. “It's something I've been working to improve.”

The 57 team rebounds tied a season high for USF, as did the Bulls' 14 steals. Junior guard Courtney Williams was one of three Bulls to grab three steals, while leading a balanced scoring attack with 17 points and adding nine rebounds, five assists and a block. Jenkins added 10 rebounds and four blocks to her 13 points, notching her 18th double-double of the season, and seventh in eight games, while Stringfield added 11 points, and sophomore guard/forward Ariadna Pujol contributed nine.

“Our team is very deep, as it showed today and as it's shown in a lot of other games,” Jespersen said.

Williams' 17 points marked the 23rd time in 26 games the junior has scored at least 15 points this season, and the 34th time in the last 35 games in which she scored in double figures. It also snapped a ten-game streak of 20-point games, the longest in the nation.

Jenkins' 10 rebounds sent the junior past USF great Jessica Lawson for third place on the career rebounds list, with 864. USF returns to the Sun Dome Sunday for its second-to-last home game of the regular season, facing Temple at noon on ESPNU. Get tickets, HERE
