TAMPA, MARCH 13, 2015 – No. 20 USF men's tennis extended its winning streak to six matches with a 4-0 home victory over Furman on Friday afternoon at the Spring Break Tournament.
Top-seeded USF (10-4) has won three straight home matches after beating three ranked teams to capture the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic last month in Alabama.
The Bulls set the tone for the victory by picking up the doubles point with wins in the third and first spots. Roberto Cid and Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz started things off by cruising to a 6-2 win over Jacob Behal and Juan Sheppard. Oliver Pramming and Justin Roberts stepped up in the top spot with a 7-6 (4) victory over Matt Browne and Ben Horst.
Pramming, a senior from Denmark, kept building momentum for the Bulls with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Cameron Green in the third singles spot. Vadym Kalyuzhnyy picked up another straight set win for USF by getting past Behal, 6-1, 6-4 in the fifth spot. Roberts, a freshman from the Bahamas, clinched match point with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Sheppard in the sixth singles position.
USF continues its Spring Break Tournament run Saturday against North Florida or Tulane. The time of the match has yet to be determined and admission is free all season at the USF Varsity Courts.
