GAINESVILLE, Fla., April 15, 2015 – The Bulls were unable to dig themselves out of an early hole in a 7-0 loss to the top-ranked Florida Gators on Wednesday night at Katie Seashore Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.
Kristen Wyckoff extended her hitting streak to eight games with a single in the third inning while Juli Weber and Lauren Evans accounted for the only other hits for USF (32-13) on the night.
Karla Claudio pitched two scoreless innings in relief to record her second solid outing of the season against the Gators (41-4).
The Bulls fell behind early after Taylore Fuller hit a bases-loaded double to plate two runs in the bottom of the first. Justine McLean made it 3-0 with an infield single later in the inning to chase Bulls' starter Erica Nunn.
After holding the defending national champions scoreless in the second, two costly throwing errors allowed the Gators to increase their lead to five in the bottom of the third.
Fuller struck again in the fourth with a two-out single with the bases loaded that allowed two more runs to score and give Florida a 7-0 advantage.
Nunn (9-6) was stuck with the loss as USF fell to 29-9 in non-conference play this season.
The Bulls jump back into conference play this weekend as they welcome East Carolina to Tampa for a three-game series at the USF Softball Stadium. First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m. and Sunday's series finale will also begin at 1 p.m. Get your tickets HERE.
