CLEMSON, S.C. (Sept. 13, 2015)- After 110 scoreless minutes, the USF women's soccer team ended its match against No. 8/11 Clemson in a scoreless draw. The Bulls are now 6-0-1 on the season and off to the second best start in school history.

“I was proud of our overall performance,” head coach Denise Schilte-Brown said. “It's never easy to go on the road and we set a goal to be amazing road warriors and I think they were today. We had the last shot, we had the first shot and it was a really fun game to be a part of.”

This was the second meeting between the two teams and the second match that ended in a draw. The two teams met in Tampa in 2013, tying 1-1.

The Bulls got off to a slow start, recording just five shots in the first half. Sophomore keeper Kat Elliott (Bradenton, Fla.) made two crucial saves in the first 45 minutes to keep the game scoreless going into halftime.

USF came out aggressive in the second half, piling on 11 shots while holding Clemson (6-0-1) to just three. The Bulls took four shots on goal in the second half and controlled the tempo for much of the final 45 minutes.

“They just kind of change their mindset,” Schilte-Brown said. “Allie Rossi was going forward and trying to score goals and others were taking risks. That's what it takes to win soccer games. You don't come out here just to tie, you want to get the win and you have to take some risks in order to do that.”

The defense, led by Rossi and Jackie Simpson was dominant, allowing just seven shots in the last 65 minutes and none on goal.

“Allie was not only an incredible defender, she was one of our best attackers,” Schilte-Brown said. “In order to do that, you have to have the mindset of a professional that just won't give up. I was thrilled. Her and Jackie have been a backbone and have showed their class and maturity.”

USF finished the match with 21 total shots, including seven on goal. It's the third highest shot output this season and third time the Bulls have recorded over 20 shots in a match.

The Bulls return to the friendly confines of Corbett Stadium for a matchup against Georgia Southern Thursday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. USF will then travel to Lubbock, Texas to take on Texas Tech Sunday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m.
