JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 9, 2016) – The USF women's tennis team earned its fourteenth win of the season Saturday afternoon by defeating the University of North Florida, 4-3, at the UNF Tennis complex in Jacksonville, Fla.

The No. 49 Bulls (14-6) took an early lead in the match by securing the doubles point. USF tandem of Vera Bessonova (Moscow, Russia) and Olga Martinez (Barcelona, Spain) captured their seventh doubles win of the season by defeating their opponent, 6-3, on court one. Sophomores Juliana Cardoso (Descalvado, Brazil) and Jessica Cortes Chaves (Monterrey, Mexico) came up clutch for the Bulls with a crucial 7-5 win on court two to clinch doubles.

Freshman Ana Roman Dominguez (Spain) would strike first for USF in singles play. Playing out of the three spot, Dominguez looked sharp as she defeated her opponent in straight sets 7-5, 6-2. The win gives the freshman 10 singles victories on the season.

Bulls junior Bessonova was pushed to a deciding third set, but finished strong to earn a big 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 win. Winner of her last seven matches, Bessonova now sits at 9-3 in singles this season.

Playing out of the fourth position, Martinez posted a remarkable three set comeback win to help seal the victory for USF. Martinez defeated her opponent in a marathon match 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.

The Bulls are back in action Sunday, April 17, as they hit the road again to take on Stetson in Deland, Fla. at 2 p.m. in the last match of the regular season.
