Bulls Post Seven Wins at GVSU Open

ALLENDALE, Mich., JAN. 20, 2017 – A week after earning five wins in the season opening Blazer Invite, the University of South Florida track and field team was back to their winning ways with another seven victories at the GVSU Open on Friday afternoon.
One of the top highlights was sophomore Joe Fogarasi (Columbia, Conn.) whose pole vault jump of 17-0.75 won the event. His jump was also second best in program history.
Freshman Tequon Terry (Alachua, Fla.) also posted a win with a time of 6.88 in the 60 meters.
Additionally, junior Kaytlyn Gill (Charlotte, N.C.) was victorious in the long jump (19-0.75), ranking sixth best in program history.

- For the second consecutive meet, USF registered five all-time top 10 marks
Notables
- Senior Michael Babinec (Riverview, Fla.) placed second in the men's 5k (14:42.70). The result was just 0.09 short of his personal best.
- Newcomer, sophomore Jada Massie (Bradenton, Fla.) finished first in the 60 meter dash (7.65).
- Sophomore Stephanie Lambeth placed third with a 12 feet 11 1/2 inch pole vault, fourth best in program history.
- Freshman Luke Lafferty (Manorville, N.Y.) won the men's long jump (22-6).
Next Up
The Bulls next meet will be at the Villanova Invitational (Feb. 4) in Staten Island, N.Y. USF's home meet, its first of the season, will be the Bulls' Invitational March 17-18.
About USF Track and Field
Led by 11th-year head coach Warren Bye, the USF track and field team has produced 21 All-Americans (eight men, 13 women) since 2000 and at least one All-American in nine of the last 10 years. Recent graduate Matthew O'Neal is USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. The Bulls return all-conference performer David Akins (pole vault) and Michael Babinec (steeplechase), as well as NCAA qualifier Bernicia Holifield (hammer throw). USF hosts the Bulls Invitational March 17-18 and the USF Invitational April 21-22. USF is home to the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary.
