The Bulls cut the deficit down to two, 40-38, on a Troy Holston (Queens, N.Y.) free throw at the 15:27 mark of the second half. Tulsa then responded by scoring 11 of the next 15 points to build the lead back to nine.
USF's foul trouble continued to play a factor in the second half as the Bulls were unable to bring the deficit back under six in the waning moments of the loss.
