Box Score HOUSTON (May 7, 2016)— The USF Softball team dropped its final regular season game, 4-3, to Houston in extra innings. The Bulls (32-23, 9-8) tied the game in the top of the seventh, but were unable to complete the comeback win.
Down 4-1 through five innings, the Bulls pulled within a run in the sixth.
With the top of the order at the plate, the Bulls used three-straight bunt singles to load the bases. A sacrifice fly from Bethaney Keen plated Kristen Wyckoff to put USF within two. A wild pitch would allow Bruni to score, making it a one-run game.
USF tied the game on a two-out RBI double from Astin Donovan, sending the game to extras, but would fall in the tenth on a walk-off RBI single.
The Bulls took the early 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI fielder's choice from AnaMarie Bruni, but Houston would strike for three runs in the home half to take the lead.
In the fourth, the Cougars would plate another run, taking a 4-1 lead into the fifth.
