FORT MYERS, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2018) – USF hit the road for the first time this season and fell to undefeated FGCU in both games of Wednesday night's doubleheader.Â
In the first game, the Bulls (4-3) dropped a 1-0 decision to the Eagles (6-0). FGCU jumped ahead early and never trailed with an RBI double in the first inning. Freshman
Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) pitched 4.1 innings and tossed six strikeouts.
In the second game of the night, the Bulls were first to get on the board with a run in the third inning of a 4-1 loss. Redshirt freshman
Brooke Leistl made her way to third base with the help of an error and a wild pitch, and was batted in by senior
Astin Donovan (Guilford, Conn.), who hit a double with two outs on the board.
FGCU's Lulu Newark (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) fired back with a home run over the left field fence to tie the game. Â The Bulls held the Eagles scoreless until a two-run homer was hit straight to deep center in the bottom of the sixth. FGCU tacked on one more before the end of the inning.

The Bulls' next stop is in Clearwater at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex for the Michele Smith Pediatric Cancer Invitational. USF starts Friday with a doubleheader against Missouri (4 p.m.) and Marshall (6:30 p.m.).
