Corrick Named Finalist for NFCA Freshman of the Year

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 20, 2018) – Georgina Corrick was selected as a top-25 candidate for the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year award, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Thursday.

Corrick has been a leader in the circle for USF this season with 12 wins and 115.1 innings pitched this season. The British National Team pitcher showed impressive skill and composure when she threw USF's first no-hitter since 2015, and the first no-hitter by a freshman since 1996 in the Bulls' 8-0 shutout over UNF on March 18. She registered a career-high 12 strikeouts in USF's 3-1 win over Wisconsin on March 2 and has recorded seven complete games.

The award was created in 2014 from an idea to honor outstanding athletic achievement among freshman softball student-athletes throughout Division I.

On May 10, the list will be trimmed down to the top 10, while the top three finalists will be selected and released on May 23. The winner will be presented prior to the start of the 2018 NCAA Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
