Bulls Win War on I-4 Series

TAMPA (April 29, 2018) – Freshman Georgina Corrick retired 15 straight batters to open the Bulls 2-1 win over UCF on Sunday afternoon. Junior Samantha Worrell hit two-run double in the first inning for the go-ahead run.

USF got a hot start with a pair of singles by junior Lindsey Devitt (Jacksonville, Fla.) and senior Astin Donovan (Guilford, Conn.) which set up for Worrell (Oviedo, Fla.) to smash a double to left field to give the Bulls (34-19, 12-6) what they needed to edge the Knights (31-21, 9-9).

Freshman Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) earned her 14th win of the season, giving USF (34-19, 12-6) the series win over UCF. She had five strikeouts and didn't allow a single walk through seven innings in her ninth complete game of the season. Corrick also saw the other side of a pitch for the first time in her collegiate career with her first at-bat. She had two plate appearances, drawing a walk in the second.

USF remains at the top of The American standings through six straight weeks of conference play. The Bulls will face Wichita State in the final series of the regular season. USF needs to win just two games next weekend to clinch the regular season title.
