Bulls Add Transfer Luke Anderson
TAMPA, DEC. 20, 2019 – University of South Florida head men's basketball coach
Brian Gregory announced on Friday that former Iowa State forward Luke Anderson has joined the Bulls and will be eligible to play as a redshirt freshman during the 2020-21 season.
A 6-8, 215-pound forward from Lakeland, Fla., Anderson was rated a three-star recruit by both 247sports and Rivals and was tabbed as the 17th-best player in the state of Florida in 2018. In addition to his offer from Iowa State, Anderson also received offers from Georgia, Minnesota, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Ole Miss and Xavier.
During his senior season at Lakeland High School, Anderson averaged 21.8 points and 10.1 rebounds on his way earning regional and county player of the year accolades in Florida's class 8A, the largest class in the state.
Anderson poured in 24 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three blocks as a junior and was named to the all-state second team. He also turned in a strong 2018 AAU season with Team Knight, where he averaged nearly 10 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists.
"We're very excited to have Luke join our family," Gregory said. "He is a highly talented player and an exceptional student who had an outstanding career right down the road in Lakeland. I know he is excited to begin practicing with us and working on his game, and we look forward to helping him get better every day."
Anderson is expected to enroll at USF in January and begin practicing with the team.
