TAMPA, FEB. 21, 2019 – For a fourth-consecutive year, the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala., will serve as the home of the 2019 American Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. All 12 teams will compete in the conference's sixth title meet from Friday-Saturday, Feb. 22-23.
Competition begins Friday at 10 a.m. (EST) with the women's pentathlon and concludes at 6:20 p.m. with the men's distance medley relay. The men's heptathlon starts competition Saturday at 10 a.m. and finishes at 3:50 p.m. with the men's 4x400 meter relay. The awards ceremony follows at 4:20 p.m.
USF enters the meet with some of the top performers in The American, led by the duo of senior David Bell (Jacksonville) and freshman Stone Baker (New Port Richey, Fla.) in the pole vault. Bell owns the top mark in the league with a height of 17-4.50 he recorded earlier this season at the Hawkeye Invitational. Baker ranks second in the league in the event with his top mark of 16-9.25 he posted two weeks ago at the Samford Invitational.
Senior D'Angelo Ennis (Kingston, Jamaica) stands fifth in the triple jump with a top distance of 48-10.25, while freshman Melvin Briley (Jacksonville) is sixth in the event with his top mark of 48-5.50 he set at the Villanova Invitational.
In running events, graduate transfer Randall Ceneus (Birmingham, Ala.) ranks seventh in The American in the 400 meters with his top time of 47.56 seconds set earlier this season at the Gamecock Inaugural.
On the women's side, sophomore Imani Carmouche (Mt. Zion, Ga.) stands fifth in the league in the high jump with a season-best height of 5-8.00 set two weeks ago at the Samford Invitational. Senior Stephanie Lambeth (Frankenmuth, Mich.) ranks sixth in the pole vault with her top mark of 13-1.50 set at the Hawkeye Invitational.
Junior Adriana Janic (Malmo, Sweden) totaled the second-most pentathlon points in school history earlier this season and heads into the championships ranked third in The American in the event with 3,844 points. In addition, her top high jump mark of 5-8.00 she recorded competing in the pentathlon earlier this season at the Houston Invitational ranks fifth in the league. Janic also turned in a season-best time of 8.48 in the 60-meter hurdles at the Samford Invitational and stands sixth in the league.
