Bulls Win Eight Titles at Samford Invitational
BIRMINGHAM, ALA., FEB. 8, 2019 – The USF track and field team captured eight individual titles and posted five of the top 10 indoor marks in school history Friday at the Samford Invitational.
Senior
Jada Massie (Bradenton, Fla.) raced to the individual title in the 60 meters with a time of 7.53 seconds, while fellow senior
Chelsea Francis (Jacksonville) followed in fourth place with a time of 7.59 seconds. Francis also took third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.45 seconds.
Junior
Adriana Janic (Malmo, Sweden) claimed the crown in the 60-meter hurdles by posting the fourth-fastest indoor time in school history at 8.48 seconds. Freshman
Shaneylix Davila (Kissimmee, Fla.) placed fourth in the event with a time of 8.75 seconds.
Sophomore
Imani Carmouche (Mt. Zion, Ga.) won the high jump with a height of 5-08.00 to claim the fifth-best indoor mark in school history. Senior
Stephanie Lambeth (Frankenmuth, Mich.) earned the victory in the pole vault with a height of 12-11.50 and senior
Kennedy Shank (Dillsburg, Pa.) placed eighth with a height of 10-11.75.
Junior
Shenica Bazile (Naples, Fla.) raced to the ninth-fastest indoor time in school history with a time of 56.81 seconds en route to a third-place finish. Sophomore
Maya Fabri (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) followed in sixth place with her time of 57.54 seconds.
On the men's side, junior
Maurice Nock (Sanford, Fla.) registered the second-fastest indoor time in the 200 meters at 21.60 seconds on his way to capturing the individual title. Junior
Luke Lafferty (Manorville, N.Y.) placed seventh after crossing the line in 22.18 seconds.
Senior
Randall Ceneus (Birmingham, Ala.) won the 400 meters with a time of 48.13 seconds and junior
Derwin Moultrie (Miami) placed fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.00 seconds.
In field events, senior
David Bell (Jacksonville) won the pole vault with a height of 17-01.00 and freshman
Stone Baker (New Port Richey, Fla.) followed in second place with his height of 16-09.25, which is the sixth-best indoor mark in school history. Senior
Mitchell Mueller (15-05.00) and
Seth Musselman (14-11.00) finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Junior
Tequon Terry (Alachua, Fla.) won the long jump with a distance of 22-11.25 and sophomore
Justin Peter (Tallahassee, Fla.) placed seventh with a distance of 21-02.00. In the triple jump, D'Angelo Ennis (Kingston, Jamaica) took second with a leap of 48-06.25 and
Melvin Briley (Jacksonville) took fourth with his mark of 47-05.25. Senior
Bruce Robinson (Little Falls, N.Y.) was seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 55-09.00.
USF returns to action Feb. 22 when the Bulls return to Birmingham to take part in the American Athletic Conference Championships.
