TAMPA, MARCH 21, 2019 – The USF track and field team hosts its first of two outdoor home meets this season when the Bulls welcome 18 teams to Tampa this weekend for the Bulls Invitational Friday at the USF Track and Field Stadium. Admission to both days is free.
The heptathlon opens the meet Friday at 3 p.m. and will be followed at 8:30 p.m. with three distance events. Competition resumes Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the men's javelin throw, while running events begin at 11 a.m. with the women's 4x100 meter relay.
USF opens the weekend having posted four individual titles last weekend at the Houston Spring Break Invitational in the opening meet of the outdoor season.
Senior Chelsea Francis (Jacksonville) raced to a first-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 23.76, and sophomore Brittany Krug (Loretto, Pa.) took home the title in the javelin throw with a distance of 151-07.00, which is the third-longest outdoor mark in school history.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team of Shenica Bazile, (Naples, Fla.) Francis, Jada Massie (Bradenton, Fla.) and Maya Fabri (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) placed third and registered the 10th-fastest outdoor time in school history at 45.96 seconds.
On the men's side, junior Yohance Haynes (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) placed first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.34, while junior Derwin Moultrie (Miami) was right behind in second with a time of 1:55.71.
Freshman Danny Ferro (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) won the 1500 meters with a time of 3:57.33, and junior Maurice Nock (Sanford, Fla.) recorded the sixth-fastest outdoor time in school history in the 100 meters with a time of 10:46.
