Bulls Set to Host South Florida Collegiate

TAMPA, APRIL 18 2019 – The USF track and field team competes for the final time at home this weekend when the Bulls host the South Florida Collegiate from the USF Track and Field Stadium.
Competition begins Friday at 2 p.m. with the hammer throw and concludes at 7:30 p.m. with the 5,000 meters. Saturday's events start at 9:30 a.m. with the javelin throw and finish at 2:50 p.m. with the 4x400 meter relay. The Bulls will recognize their 16 seniors at 2:15 p.m. after the conclusion of the 200 meters.
The Bulls enter the weekend following a strong showing last weekend at the UIW Invitational, as USF captured 11 individual titles and posted eight marks ranked in the top 10 in school history. Chelsea Francis set a school record in the 100 meters by turning in a time of 11.41 to surpass the previous record of 11.45 set by Kerine Black in 2000. Francis also placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.43.
In field events, senior Stephanie Lambeth (Frankenmuth, Mich.) won the pole vault with a height of 12-03.50, while sophomore Javonia Ellis (Lake Minneola, Fla.) turned in the fifth-best outdoor long jump in school history with a distance of 19-9.00 on her way to placing third.
Freshman Arielle Boone (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) placed third in the triple jump and registered the 10th-best outdoor jump in school history with a distance of 39-7.75. Sophomore Brittany Krug (Loretto, Pa.) claimed the title in the javelin throw with a distance of 143-2.00, and senior Kirby Powers (Orange Park, Fla.) won the high jump with a height of 5-5.00.
On the men's side, junior Maurice Nock (Sanford, Fla.) shined in running events with two of the top times in school history. Nock won the 200 meters with a time of 20.82 to post the second-fastest outdoor time in school history. He went on to finish second in the 100 meters with a time of 10.40 to record the fourth-fastest outdoor time in school history.
Senior Randall Ceneus (Birmingham, Ala.) captured the title in the 400 meters with a time of 49.84.
Junior Taquon Terry (Alachua, Fla.) won the long jump with a distance of 24-0.75 to post the eighth-best outdoor mark in school history. Freshman Melvin Briley (Jacksonville) turned in the ninth-best triple jump in outdoor school history with a distance of 48-4.50 en route to winning the event.
Senior Mitchell Mueller (Algonac, Mich.) placed first in the pole vault with a height of 15-11.00, and senior Bruce Robinson (Little Falls, N.Y.) earned the crown in the hammer throw with a distance of 169-9.00. Freshman Hunter Hummel (Kissimmee, Fla.) won the discus throw with a mark of 159-9.00 to record the 10th-longest outdoor distance in school history.
