Corrick Named Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week
TAMPA, FLA. May 4, 2021 – A day after earning the title of American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association named Georgina Corrick as the organization's pitcher of the week on Tuesday.
This is Corrick's second consecutive week earning the honor and third time she's earned the weekly honor from the organization in her collegiate career. No USF player has ever been recognized by the organization for the weekly award multiple times.
Overall, Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) went 2-1 with a save on the weekend, allowing only two hits and zero earned runs in her 24.2 IP. She went 22.2 IP without allowing a hit, dating back to the weekend against WSU, and hasn't allowed an earned run in 31.1 innings in the circle.
Corrick began her weekend nearly perfect, allowing only two baserunners in a no-hit effort which gave Ken Eriksen his 1,000th win as head coach. In her next outing, the Great Britain National Team member tossed another no-hitter, again allowing only two runners in the outing. In game three, she closed out the game, throwing 2.2 no-hit, shutout innings to earn a save in the 4-1 victory. She closed out the weekend nearly going 3-0, tossing an eight-inning, complete-game where she allowed only a single, unearned run.
On the season, Corrick is now 20-5 on the season with three saves. She ranks ninth in the country with a 0.88 ERA and has 276 strikeouts, which is second in the nation. She's also second in the country with 12 shutouts on the year.
The Bulls wrap up the regular season with the War On I-4 against UCF in Orlando, Fla. The Bulls need to win three of the four games in the series to clinch the American Athletic Conference Regular Season title. The series kicks off on Friday at 6 p.m.
