TAMPA (October 18, 2022) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team completed its third event of the 2022 fall season this past weekend at the ITA Southeast Regionals at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. The Bulls finished the event with 13 wins between singles and doubles play.

Cliona Walsh won four out of her six singles matches during the weekend, getting through qualifying and into the main draw. She advanced to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket after defeating Kate Sharabura of Georgia Tech, 3-6, 7-6, 10-3.

Sierra Berry also came through qualifying and into the main draw where she advanced to the Round of 32 after a 6-3, 6-1 win over Florida State's Ellie Schoppe.

Joining Berry in the main draw Round of 32 was
Grace Schumacher who moved on after a 4-6, 7-6, 6-2 win over Emma Shelton of Florida.

Laura Pellicer advanced to the semifinals of the consolation bracket with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Mary Weston Courville of Mercer.

In the main draw of doubles, the tandem of Berry and Schumacher defeated Ji Lee and Taylor Dean of Kennesaw State, 8-7, before falling in the Round of 16.

In doubles play, Pellicer and Walsh got the event going with an 8-4 win over Pragnaya Kumar and Alexia Alvarez of Georgia State.

After three events in four weeks to start the fall season, the Bulls will get a weekend off to rest before getting back to work in their next scheduled event at the FIU Invitational in Miami, Oct. 28-30.
