Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. (April 18, 2025) — The No. 11 seed South Florida Bulls (6-14) fought to the end vs. the No. 6 seed Memphis Tigers (6-13) in the first round of the AAC Championship on Thursday evening, but ultimately dropped the match 4-3.
The match began at 7:30 p.m. ET and started off with doubles play. USF's Charlotte Ruud and Josefine Falster earned the first doubles victory 6-3 on court two. The Bulls sealed the deal with Sienna Leeson and Margherita Marcon claiming the doubles point on court one winning 6-4 over the Tigers.
The team began singles and started strong, leading on all courts. Kelly Vargas gave the Bulls their first singles point with a dominant (6-1, 6-2) court six win over Miriam Grosmann from the Tigers. South Florida battled, but then fell on two courts. USF's Sienna Leeson fought back from being down a set and claimed the match winning 7-6 (6-2) in a tiebreak showdown, bringing the overall score to a 3-3 tie.
It came down to the wire on court five with Bull Josefine Falster and Tiger Alice Amendola. After three hard-fought sets, the Bulls ultimately fell on the final court (5-7, 6-4, 3-6). The Memphis Tigers advance to the next round of the tournament.
