TAMPA, April 21, 2022 – The University of South Florida softball team heads to Tulsa as it continues conference play, battling the Golden Hurricane in a three-game weekend series.

Recapping the Week
The Bulls dropped a 1-0 nail-biter to No. 8 Florida on Wednesday. Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) pitched a complete-game one-hitter, while Vivian Ponn (Fort Myers, Fla.) recorded her sixth multi-hit game of the season. Ultimately, a lone error in the sixth inning made the difference in the loss and USF batters suffered multiple diving putouts by the Florida defense.

Road Success
The Bulls have been incredibly successful on the road this season, posting a 6-1 record. The mark is a substantial rebound over last season, when USF finished 7-8 at opposing ballparks on the year. In general, when away from USF Softball Stadium this season, the Bulls have posted a 10-2 record, an improvement from last year's 10-10 record.

Dominance in the Circle
Senior pitcher Georgina Corrick continues to be lights-out for South Florida this season in the circle. She's posted a 27-5 record with a 0.47 ERA. Her 15 shutouts and 322 strikeouts both rank first in the country, while the second-place pitcher in both of those categories rank two shutouts and 80 strikeouts behind her, respectively. Her 27 wins also leads the nation, three wins more than the next pitcher in line. Her ERA is third in the country, ranking only behind pitchers with less than 31 percent of the innings Corrick has thrown. For her efforts, Corrick was named a finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award on Wednesday.

Overall, the South Florida staff has been successful this season, throwing the second most shutouts in the nation with 20, ranking only behind No. 1 Oklahoma by one, while also holding the sixth best staff ERA (1.54) in the country and the fourth-best strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.46).

She's a runner, She's a track star
Alexis Johns leads the country with 45 stolen bases so far this season, seven more than the next closest base-stealer. She set a new USF single-season record, breaking the one set last season by AnaMarie Bruni (38), and AAC single-season record. While only being at USF for two seasons, she's already tied for the No. 7 spot on USF's all-time list.
