TAMPA, Fla., April 30, 2022 – University of South Florida senior pitcher Georgina Corrick achieved perfection for the second time of the season in game one as the softball team (38-13; 8-5 AAC) took both of the first two games of the series from Houston (24-25-1; 8-8-1 AAC).
 
Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) completed her perfect game, the fifth in USF history, on Saturday morning after tossing four flawless innings on Friday evening. After winning game one, 4-0, the Bulls also shut out the Cougars in game two, 2-0.
 
Corrick, a two-time All-American and three-time American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, becomes just the second player in USF softball history to toss multiple perfect games and the first to do it twice in the same season. She also broke another three records between the pair of games: USF single-season strikeouts, AAC single-season strikeouts and USF single-season shutouts.
 
Game One – USF 4, Houston 0
Beginning on Friday, the Bulls capitalized on mistakes by the Houston defense to take a 4-0 lead in the third inning. Alexis Johns (Sarasota, Fla.) singled with one out on a bunt, then stole second. Meghan Sheehan (Forest Hill, Md.) advanced Johns to third and reached on an error and Alanah Rivera (St. Petersburg, Fla.) forced another defensive mistake that allowed Johns to score.
 
Later in the inning, Vivian Ponn (Fort Myers, Fla.) singled home Sheehan to extend the lead to 2-0, while Megan Pierro (Lutz, Fla.) capped the inning with a two-run double to left-center.
 
Corrick's first strikeout in the fourth inning gave her 337 on the season, setting a new program-record and passing Sara Nevins' 336 in 2012. After Corrick sat the Cougars down in order in the top of the fourth, the game was delayed and later suspended due to lightning and rain. Ultimately, the game was delayed for over 18 hours until 11 a.m. Saturday morning.
 
Corrick never missed a beat, though. Ending Friday with six strikeouts, she added another five to her total on Saturday and continued to retire Houston in order. Overall, she sat down 21 consecutive batters to complete the perfection bid and earn her 29^th win of the season. The game also earned her the USF single-season shutouts record with her 16^th of the year.
 
Game Two – USF 2, Houston 0
The Bulls kept the same lineup in game two. Corrick continued to deal, striking out seven through the first four innings. In striking out the side in the fourth, she earned her 349^th punch-out of the season, breaking the American Athletic Conference record set by Tulsa's Emily Watson in 2017.
 
The Bulls earned the victory on offense in the third. With Sheehan on first, Rivera hit her first career triple to put the Bulls on top, 1-0, then scored herself on a Josie Foreman (West Palm Beach, Fla.) sacrifice bunt.

The two runs were enough for the victory. Corrick earned her 30^th victory of the season with a two-hit, 11 strikeout performance in the complete-game shutout.
 
Notables

• Corrick becomes just the third pitcher in USF history to record 30-or-more wins in a season, joining Leigh Ann Ellis, who did it twice with 34 wins in 2003 and 43 wins in 2004, and Sara Nevins, who won 31 games in 2012.
• Johns has 48 stolen bases this season after swiping two in game one.
• Corrick has 1,237 strikeouts in her career.
• Corrick is the only pitcher in Division I NCAA Softball with 30-or-more wins so far this season.
• The Bulls wore purple ribbons on Saturday in memory of JMU's Lauren Bernett, who tragically passed away earlier this week.
