TAMPA, Fla., April 9, 2022 – The University of South Florida softball team took game two of the three game set against the Wichita State Shockers, 5-2, to earn a series win and move to 5-3 in conference play (33-10 overall).

Dezarae Maldonado (Winter Haven, Fla.) continued swinging a hot bat, going two-for-three in the game with two doubles and two RBI.
Megan Pierro (Lutz, Fla.) also had a multi-RBI day, driving home two with her first home run of the season.

Wichita State struck first in the contest, scoring an unearned run in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead.

The Bulls quickly answered in the bottom half of the third.
Alexis Johns tied the game by singling home
Allana Consolazio (Fort Myers, Fla.). Pierro gave the Bulls a 3-1 lead later in the inning, hitting a two-run homer to right-center field.

The Shockers tied the game in the fifth off a home run and an RBI single, while Maldonado gave USF the lead for good in the sixth inning, driving home
Hallie Bryant (Trenton, Fla.) and
Emilee Hanlon (Dunkirk, N.Y.).

Antoinette Hill (Braidwood, Ill.) earned her second win of the season in the game, tossing two shutout innings, while
Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) earned her second save of the year.

Notables
- Johns leads the team with 12 multi-hit games after a two-hit performance today. She's also reached base in 11 straight games and has a seven-game hitting streak.
- In the last five games, Maldonado has gone five-for-11 with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBI.
