TAMPA, Fla., July 18, 2022 – The University of South Florida track and field team had eleven student-athletes be recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes, while both the men and women's team were named USFTFCCCA All-Academic Teams.
 
"I am really proud of our student-athletes' accomplishments," head coach Erik Jenkins said. "They have worked hard to compete at an elite level in classroom and on the track. Congratulations to them all for this well-deserved recognition."
 
In order to be recognized, student-athletes needed at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA, at least two semesters at their current institution and a high ranking in their respective events. Teams needed a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
 
David Ajama, Kobe Babin, Stone Baker, Michael Bourne III, Eron Carter and Elijah Wright were chosen as All-Academic Athletes from the men's team.
 
Shaniya Benjamin, Hannah Connell, Kendall McDaniel, Kadesha Prescott and Patricija Roshofa earned All-Academic Athlete honors from the women's team.  
 
At the end of the spring semester, the women's team featured a cumulative GPA of 3.43 and had 32 earn a spot on the USF Athletics Honor Roll, while the men's team had a 3.14 GPA and 16 honor roll recipients.
 
Ten of USF's honorees reached the NCAA East Prelims, with Benjamin and Walker qualifying for the NCAA National Championship meet and earning All-America honors from the USTFCCCA in the long jump and 400 hurdles, respectively.

About USF Track and Field
The USF track and field team has earned 58 All-America selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.
