Tampa, Fla., Jan. 12, 2023 – The University of South Florida track and field opens their 2023 indoor season this weekend at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational hosted by the Gainesville Sports Commission in Gainesville, Fla. 
 
Competition begins Friday with Annia Ashley and Nia Robinson competing in the women's high jump set to start at 9:00 a.m. Kobe Babin, Stone Baker, and Noah Bitter participate in the men's pole vault, alongside Riley Hunt, Audrey Wuerffel, and Annalise Zeinemann in the women's competition later in the day.
 
Alliya Boothe and Ameliya Richardson will represent USF in the women's weight throw on Friday. Jadaja Baxter, Loren Johnson, and Kendal McDaniel compete in the women's long jump on Friday at 12:00 pm concurrent with David Ajama and Victor Steiner in the men's long jump.
 
Johann Jeremiah represents USF in the shot-put competition at 2:00 pm. Annia Ashley, Loren Johnson, and Nia Robinson compete in the women's triple jump while Ajama competes for the men's competition at 3:00 pm.
 
Romaine Beckford and Kendell Mosley will compete in the high jumps, followed by Boothe in the women's shot-put competition immediately after to wrap up the first day of the meet.
 
Competition on the track begins with Cora Kolodge, Arden La-Rose, Patricija Roshofa, Alyssa Wyatt, and Ezekiel Shore competing in the women's and men's mile run.
 
Michael Bourne will run in the 60-meter hurdles for the men, with Chakiya Plummer representing the USF women in the event. Zahria Allers-Liburd, Doneisha Anderson, Jadaja Baxter, Shaniya Benjamin, Kayla Hugg, Zayne Jack, A'Kyrah O'Banner, and Terren Peterson run for USF in the 60-meters, while Jaleel Croal, Danelson Mahautiere, Monte Parker, Shevioe Reid, and Elijah Wright run for in the men's event.
 
In the 800-meters, Anderson, La-Rose, Wyatt, Daunte O'Banion, Reid, and Shore race for USF's men's and women's teams, followed by Kolodge in the women's 3K race.
 
The meet wraps up with women's and men's competition in the 4x400-meter relay, respectively.
 
"It has been a long time since we have been able to compete indoors in Florida," head coach Erik Jenkins said, "We are excited to begin our indoor season and look forward to this inaugural event."
 
 
About USF Track and Field
The USF track and field team has earned 53 All-America selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.
