TAMPA (January 7, 2023) – The University of South Florida Bulls wrap up a two-game conference homestand on Sunday against the Wichita State Shockers at 1 p.m. inside the Yuengling Center. Both sides enter the tilt seeking their first AAC win.

The Bulls are coming off a 68-64 setback to Temple on Wednesday. South Florida has won seven of its last 10 games overall and five of seven at home. Russel Tchewa had a career night against Temple, logging his second double-double in three games (fifth career overall), with a career-high 20 points and matched a career best with 12 rebounds.

Tchewa ranks fourth in the AAC in shooting percentage (59.6) and third in rebounding (7.73). The center is averaging 12.7 points and 8.7 rebounds over his last nine games while averaging 10.6 points and 7.7 rebounds on the year.  

Tyler Harris continues to pace the offense with 15.2 points per game on 37 percent shooting from downtown, including a 43 percent clip over his last 11 games. Selton Miguel is averaging 11.6 points and has a team-best 49 assists.  

Serrel Smith Jr. matched a career high with 21 points at Memphis to open AAC play and is shooting 84.6 percent (11-13) over his last two games, including a 6-for-8 mark from beyond the arc.

Wichita State has dropped three in a row to begin conference play, and four of its last five overall. The Shockers suffered a 70-61 home loss to Cincinnati on Thursday. Craig Porter Jr. (12.4 ppg) and Jaykwon Walton (11.7) lead the offense.

Wichita State has won six straight over USF. Three of the last four meetings have been decided by five points or fewer, including a combined five point difference in the last two matchups.

Following Sunday's contest, the Bulls will travel to Houston (Jan. 11) and ECU (Jan. 15) before rerunning to Tampa to face Cincinnati (Jan. 18) and UCF (Jan. 21).
