USF Women’s Golf to Wrap Fall Slate at Hurricane Invitational

TAMPA, FLA., October 27, 2023 – The University of South Florida women's golf team returns to the course for its final tournament of the Fall at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables beginning on Monday, October 30. The Bulls, who notched a win in the first Fall event and followed with a pair of top-four finishes, are led by head coach Erika Brennan in her sixth full season.
South Florida will compete in a 12-team field at the Hurricane Invitational featuring host Miami, Augusta, BYU, College of Charleston, Colorado, Colorado State, FIU, UNLV, Oklahoma, Coastal Carolina, and Texas State.
The 54-hole event will consist of 36 holes on Monday, October 30, beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (EST). The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday, October 31, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (EST).
The Bulls will be led by returning senior Melanie Green (Medina, N.Y.), the AAC Women's Golfer of the Month for September. Green finished in the top five of all three Fall events, including a record-setting performance at the Dale McNamara Invitational. Green set a new program record in the second round with a score of -8. She shot 64, which is her career low and ties a program record. The 64 was also the low round of the tournament. Her 36-hole total of 136 through the first two rounds tied for second-place all-time in USF program history. Green finished tied for fourth and tied for second in the first two events.
Joining the charge for the Bulls are junior Leonor Medeiros, who has two top 10 finishes this season, freshman Emma Falcher who posted her first top 10 as Bull with a tie for seventh at the Glass City Invitational, senior Alizee Vidal, who posted her third top-10 finish as a Bull at the Badger Invitational and graduate transfer Alyssa Montgomery, coming off of her first top 10 finish at USF at the Dale McNamara Invitational

The 2023-24 campaign will be the Bulls' sixth full season under head coach Erika Brennan. South Florida is among the fastest-rising programs in the country, as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings following Brennan's first season in 2018-19 and have captured four tournament titles under Brennan, while setting numerous program scoring records under her leadership. Senior standout Melanie Green has been an all-conference performer in each of her first three seasons, qualified for the 2022 NCAA Regional as an individual and was named a 2023 All-American Honorable Mention. Green and the Bulls reached the NCAA Regional as a team in 2023, marking the program's first postseason appearance in 11 years.
