TAMPA (February 20, 2022) – The University of South Florida Bulls welcome the No. 7-ranked Florida Games to USF Baseball Stadium on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Bulls will then travel to Gainesville on Wednesday for the second game of the midweek series.

Tuesday will mark the Gators' first visit to Tampa since February 19, 2019 which was a 6-1 win by USF.

South Florida is in the midst of a five-game stretch to begin the 2023 season against teams ranked in the Top 25 after hosting No. 13 Maryland in Tampa last weekend. The Bulls claimed the opener, 8-7, before the Terrapins took the series with wins of 8-1 and 9-5, respectively.

Travis Sankovich batted .583 (7-for-12) with two doubles and three RBI in his first series wearing Green & Gold. Sophomore Bobby Boser hit .444 (4-for-9) with two home runs, three walks, four RBI and five runs scored. Boser tallied his first career two-homer game in the opener on Friday against Maryland All-American pitcher Jason Savacool. Boser was named to the AAC Honor Roll for his efforts on Monday.

Drew Brutcher and Daniel Cantu both homered in the series finale on Sunday for the Bulls.

USF used 14 different pitchers in the series, including five true freshmen and seven total newcomers. Offensively, the Bulls also showcased their depth this season with 14 different position players seeing action.

Florida opened its 2023 slate with a dominant sweep in Gainesville over Charleston Southern. The Gators outscored the Pirates over the weekend, 37-5, including two run-ruled victories. Sophomore Ty Evans batted .500 in the series with four doubles and 10 RBI.

Outfielder Wyatt Langford was named to the 2023 Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List and the Preseason All-SEC Team along with catcher BT Riopelle.

The Gators are coming off a 42-24 campaign in 2022 when they hosted an NCAA Regional for the second straight season. Bulls fans will remember the 2021 Gainesville Regional fondly as the site of South Florida's historic win which punched the Bulls' ticket to the program's first-ever Super Regional.
