Tampa, Fla. (March 3, 2023) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team couldn't extend its winning streak to three matches, falling 4-2 to Louisiana Tech on Friday at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
USF came out of the gate strong, taking all three doubles courts. Court two got the ball rolling for the Bulls, with the duo of
Ireland Simme and
Laura Pellicer securing a convincing 6-2 win.
Sierra Berry and
Grace Schumacher followed with a 6-4 win on court one. On court three,
Margriet Timmermans and
Marta Falceto Font made it a sweep for the Bulls, winning 6-3.
In singles, however, Louisiana Tech had a response. The Bulldogs took the first set on four of the six courts.
On court two
Sierra Berry continued her stellar season. After being named the AAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday, Berry defeated Louisiana Tech's Olga Bienzobas 6-2, 6-3 to secure the only singles point for the Bulls on the day.
USF couldn't slow down Louisiana Tech on courts three, four, or one, ultimately conceding the next three points and the match.
