GAINESVILLE, Fla., April 1, 2023 – The University of South Florida track and field team completed competition at the Pepsi Florida Relays, with more additions to the programs' top ten all-time lists.
"Florida relays is one of the premiere events in the country," head coach
Erik Jenkins said, "We had some good performances and saw several areas we feel confident we can improve."
USF shot-put record holder,
Johann Jeremiah, kicked off the day for the Bulls in the event, earning third place with a throw of 16.70 meters (54-9.50).
Michael Bourne III advanced to the finals of the 110-meter hurdle prelims with a time of 14.05 seconds. In the finals, Bourne finished with a time of 13.92, only a second away from a new personal and program record.
In the men's pole vault,
Kobe Babin tied for third place with a mark of 5.13m (16-10).
Annia Ashley and
Nia Robinson both jumped 1.70m (5-7.00) in the women's high jump competition. Robinson is now tied at seventh on the all-time list.
Doneisha Anderson and
Kayla Hugg both ran season-best times in the women's 400-meter dash, running 54.28 and 54.90 seconds, respectively. Anderson has now moved up to fourth all-time at USF. In the men's event,
Shevioe Reid also moved to third all-time with 46.47 seconds to finish sixth in the competition.
Elijah Wright followed with a season's best time of 46.91.
The Bulls had another top-five finish, this time with
Cora Kolodge finishing second in the women's 3K with a time of 10:44.77.
The women's 4x400m relay, featuring
Shaniya Benjamin, Anderson, Hugg, and
Sanique Walker, entered the program's all-time list in fourth place with a time of 3:37.70.
The Bulls return to Tampa next weekend for the South Florida Invitational. The USF Track and Field Stadium will also see the Fastest Kid in Tampa event on Saturday afternoon.

The USF track and field team has earned 56 All-America selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Romaine Beckford won the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championship in the men's high jump. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.
