Tampa, Fla., April 12, 2023 – The University of South Florida track and field team will compete in three meets this weekend between the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Ca., the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Ca., and the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Fla.
"This weekend will provide us with a plethora of competitive opportunities," head coach
Erik Jenkins said, "We will get a chance to measure ourselves against programs from all over the country and some of the world's best professionals."
Mt. Sac Relays
The Mt. Sac Relays kicks off on Friday with
Zahria Allers-Liburd,
Jadaja Baxter,
Shaniya Benjamin, and
Je'Nyia Burton competing in the women's 4x100 meter relay.

Michael Bourne III will represent South Florida in the men's 110m hurdles as well as in the 400m hurdles. Later on,
Danelson Mahautiere runs the collegiate 100m dash.
Â
Sanique Walker, Allers-Liburd,
Doneisha Anderson, and Benjamin return to the track to run the 4x400m relays.

Bourne,
Zayquan Lincoln,
Daunte O'Banion, and
Monte Parker wrap up the Bulls' first day of competition with the men's 4x400m relays.

On Saturday, Benjamin and
Nia Robinson start off the day for South Florida with the women's long jump followed by
Shaneylix Davila in the 100m hurdles.

NCAA Indoor National Champion,
Romaine Beckford, will compete in the high jump.
Â
Lincoln returns for the elite 100m dash, followed by Walker in the women's 400m hurdles. Recent AAC Track Athlete of the Week,
Shevioe Reid, runs the 200m dash, wrapping up competition in Walnut, Ca.

Beach Invitational
Baxter returns to the track for the 100m dash, along with Lincoln, Mahatiere, and
Jaleel Croal at Long Beach. Benjamin, Burton,
Terren Peterson and Allers-Liburd will represent the women's squad in the 200m, while Reid, Lincoln, O'Banion, Croal, and Mahautiere represent the men's squad.

In the 400 meters event, the Bulls will feature Burton, Anderson, Peterson and
Chakiya Plummer for the women, and
Elijah Wright, O'Banion, Reid and Parker for men.
Â
Davila and Plummer continue competition in California in the 100m hurdles, along with Bourne and
Victor Steiner. Davila, Plummer, and Bourne will also compete in the 400m hurdles, as well as Walker and
Madeline Abega.

The Bull's will also participate in the 4x100 and 4x400m relays in both men's and women's squads.

In the field events, Robinson and Ashley will compete in the high jump, triple jump, and long jump. Benjamin and Baxter will join them in the long jump, while Steiner competes in the men's event.Â
Kobe Babin and
Stone Baker represent the Green and Gold in the pole vault competition.

Kendell Mosley and
Noah Bitter kick off competition in Gainesville, Fla., in the high jump and pole vault, respectively.
Shortly after,
Alliya Boothe and
Ameilya Richardson compete in the women's hammer throw event. Later,
Kendall McDaniel and
Loren Johnson both participate in the long jump.
Hannah Connell begins the track events for the Bulls. in the 200-meter dash.
Later in the day,
Arden La-Rose,
Carolyn Brown, and
Alyssa Wyatt run the 1500m, followed by
Cora Kolodge,
Kelly Lynch,
Kelly Lynch,
Tyler Wadsworth, and
Sebastian Edwards in the 5K race.
On Saturday,
Ella Dolce,
Audrey Wuerffel, and
Riley Hunt start off the day for South Florida in the women's pole vault, followed by McDaniel in the high jump and Johnson in the triple jump. Boothe and
Johann Jeremiah compete in women's and men's the shot-put competition, respectively, and wrap up the field events for the day.
Connell returns to the track for the 100m hurdles. Brown, La-Rose, and
Victoria Valdez will represent the women's team in the 800m, while
Jesse Benavides,
Ezekiel Shore, and
Troy Llanos represent the men's team, concluding the Tom Jones Memorial for South Florida.

About USF Track and Field
The USF track and field team has earned 56 All-American selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Romaine Beckford won the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championship in the men's high jump. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.Â
