Tampa, Fla., April 15, 2023 – The University of South Florida track and field team wrapped up its final day at the Mt. Sac Relays, Beach Invitational, and the Tom Jones Memorial with the Bulls setting new program records.
Beach Invitational
The 4x100 relay team of Danelson Mahautiere, Shevioe Reid, Jaleel Croal, and Zayquan Lincoln established a new program record, winning the event with a time of 40.33.
In the women's 100-meter hurdles, Shaneylix Davila placed fourth with a season-best time of 13.48 seconds, followed by Chakiya Plummer in eighth position with a time of 13.69, moving into seventh on the all-time list. Meanwhile, Michael Bourne III finished third in the men's 110-meter hurdle competition with a time of 13.99 seconds.
Plummer later returned to the track and took first place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.36, while Bourne posted a new personal best time of 52.85 to finish fifth in the men's competition.
Lincoln claimed his second win of the day, this time in the 100m dash, posting a personal best time of 10.30 and moving into second place on the program's all-time list. Elijah Wright finish in second position in the men's 400m with a mark of 47.60 seconds.
Shevioe Reid won the 200m dash competition with a personal record of 20.87 seconds, moving up to third on the all-time list.
In the field events, Shaniya Benjamin was the women's long jump runner-up, with a season-best mark of 6.19m (20-3.75). Later, Annia Ashley claimed another win for the Bulls in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.76m (5-9.25), good for third in the all-time list.
In the pole vault,
Kobe Babin finished fifth with a new personal best mark of 5.27m (17-3.50). Babin is now tied for third in the program's all-time list.
Mt. Sac Relays
Sanique Walker opened the day for the Bulls with a fourth place finish in the Women's 400m hurdles elite section with a new personal best time of 57.06 seconds.
NCAA Indoor High Jump Champion Romaine Beckford placed second in the men's high jump elite invitational with a mark of 2.20 meters (7-2.25).
Tom Jones Memorial
Hannah Connell ran a seasons best time of 13.83 in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Alliya Boothe matched her personal best in the women's shot-put competition with a mark of 13.60m (44-7.5).
In two weeks, the Bulls will be back in action in Philadelphia and Jacksonville for another round of split-squad meets.
About USF Track and Field
The USF track and field team has earned 56 All-American selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Romaine Beckford won the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championship in the men's high jump. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.
