Bulls blanked at UNF

Travis Sankovich tallied two of USF’s four hits on Tuesday night.

JACKSONVILLE (April 18, 2023) – The University of South Florida (16-22) was shutout for the first time in over a month on Tuesday night as the University of North Florida Ospreys (20-16) blanked the Bulls, 10-0 in seven innings.

South Florida entered the tilt averaging over 10 runs a game on offense over its last six ballgames.

Rafael Betancourt (Deltona) and Travis Sankovich (Uniontown, Pa.) had two hits apiece for the Bulls.

A pair of Osprey pitchers combined on the four-hit shutout.

North Florida jumped out to an early lead with a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. The Ospreys added four runs in the third, one more in the fourth and two runs in the sixth inning.

Notable

  • Betancourt has reached base safely in a season-high 11-straight games.
  • Tanner Mink (Palm Harbor) had his streak of seven scoreless appearances (11.1 IP) snapped on Tuesday.
