TAMPA, FLA., September 26, 2023 – The University of South Florida men's golf team placed fourth in the Windon Memorial Classic in Northfield, Illinois which concluded on Tuesday. South Florida's 36-hole total of 548 on Monday tied the program record and the Bulls' final 54-hole tally of 825 (-27) is the fourth-best in team history.
South Florida opened with a 279 (-5) in the first round and improved by 10 shots in the second round with a 269 (-15) good for sixth place. USF closed with a 277 (-3) moving up three spots to finish fourth in the 15-team field.
The Bulls' second-round score of 269 was tied for second-best in the field, just one shot behind Purdue's 268. The Boilermakers went on to win the event with a tournament-record score of 814 (-38).
USF was second in par 4 scoring at -4, third in par 5 scoring at -27 and second with 184 pars in the tournament.
Graduate student
Brock Healy (Norcross, Ga.) paced USF with his first top-10 finish as a Bull. Healy tied his career-best with a 65 (-6) in the second round. He opened with a 70 (-1) and closed with an even-par 71.
Jake Peacock (Milton, Ga.), matched his career-best with a 66 in the opening round. He followed with a 72 (+1) in the second round and closed with a 69 (-2) to gain 10 spots and finish tied for 14th. Peacock tied for second in par 4 scoring at -5, recorded 11 birdies was tied for second with 41pars over three rounds.
Redshirt junior
Cooper Smith (Tampa) carded three rounds under par on his way to a tie for 19th. Smith bookended rounds of 70 (-1) in the first and third rounds with a 68 (-3) in the second round. Smith tied for the lead in par 5 scoring at -8.
Freshman
Wilhelm Ryding (Tyreso, Sweden), in his second tournament in the Green and Gold, shot under par in the last two rounds. Ryding opened with a 75 (+4) and improved eight shots with a 67 (-4) in the second. He moved up 15 spots on the final day, closing with a 69 (-2) to finish tied for 34th.
Sophomore
Nino Palmquist (Halmstad, Sweden) finished tied with Ryding at 34th, shooting a pair of two-under 69's in the second and third rounds.
Competing as an individual,
Shubham Jaglan (Jr., Delhi, India), tied for 24th for the best finish among the individuals. Shubham was under par in his first two rounds, shooting 69 (-2) and 68 (-3) and closed with a 72 (+1)

The USF men's golf program has captured 17 conference titles and has seen players earn 19 All-America honors. The Bulls have won five American Athletic Conference Tournament championships in wire-to-wire fashion, winning four-consecutive from 2015-18.
