Horrocks Gathers Career-High Six Saves In Bulls Loss at FIU

MIAMI (September 29, 2023) – Sophomore goalkeeper Alan Horrocks collared a career-high six saves in the University of South Florida men's soccer 's (2-6, 0-2), 2-1, loss to FIU (5-2-2, 3-0-0) on the road at FIU Soccer Stadium in Miami, Fla.
 
After a scoreless first frame, FIU found the net twice after the break. Seven minutes into the second half the Panthers Joao Domingues found the goal and in the 63rd minute of action, Eduardo Mustre put the second goal past the Bull's defense. Twenty minutes later, South Florida's Jalen Anderson sliced the Panthers advantage in half by scoring off of a penalty kick.
  NOTABLE NUMBERS
  • Horrocks had a career outing of six saves against FIU, resetting his previous career-best of five saves against SMU last Friday (Sept. 22).
  • Anderson netted his fourth goal in the season (15 career) and has scored one or more goals in three of the last six contests.
  • FIU continues to hold a 16-13-5 lead in the all-time pairing with USF.
 
UP NEXT
South Florida heads to Oklahoma for a meeting with Tulsa on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Kickoff is slated for 8:00 p.m. and the match will air on ESPN+.

USF Men's Soccer competed in the school's first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3.
