Bulls Welcome Falcons for Thursday Night Matchup

TAMPA, Fla. (September 6, 2023) – The University of South Florida women's soccer team returns home for a non-conference matchup with Florida College. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
 
Admission and parking will be free for all fans in attendance for Thursday's contest.
 
South Florida is coming off a 5-1 loss at No. 2 ranked Florida State on Sunday. The Bulls utilized a corner kick to produce their goal against the Seminoles. USF enters Thursday with a 2-3 record while Florida College comes into the contest with a 0-3-1 mark. The Bulls have produced more corner kicks than their opponents in three-straight matchups. USF is 2-0 in night contests and looks to improve on that mark with a Thursday's match.
 
Bulls at a Glance
Gentiana Fetaj and Anna Sutter are tied for the team lead with four points. Sutter paces the squad with two goals, while Fetaj has a team-best two assists and one goal. Georgia Brown, Amaris Hamilton-Grein, Kouri Peace, and Peyton Vincze all have one goal on the season. Vivianne Bessette, Micahela Hill, Linnea Nestor, Elyse Thornton, and Serita Thurton have dished out one assist each. Arden La-Rose has started four matches for USF and has made seven saves. Leire Herraez Gallach has appeared in three contests, with one start, and has made a team-best 10 saves.
 
Series History with Florida College
The Bulls and Falcons have met one time, with USF winning that contest 11-0. The lone meeting was on September 21, 2018, in Tampa.
 
Scouting the Falcons
Florida College is led by Claribel Hernandez with five goals. She has notched a goal in every match of the season, including two against Florida Memorial. She has a team-high 10 points. Victoria Fonseca is second on the team with three points, with a goal and an assist. Sky Ledin has posted a team-best two assists. Marta Cuenca, Kendle Valido, and Yaritza Vasquez each have one assist on the year. Jilian Francis has appeared in all four matches, including three starts, and has made 36 saves on the season.

The 2023 season marks the 17th and final for head coach Denise Schilte-Brown at the helm of the Bulls. Schilte-Brown guided South Florida to the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament in 2010 and the Bulls have made eight total postseason appearances (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021) in the last 13 years. USF posted five consecutive seasons with a conference championship, winning the regular-season title in 2018, 2020, and 2021, while earning the tournament crown in 2017, 2019, and 2020. USF alum and Olympic Gold Medalist, Evelyne Viens, was selected fifth overall in the NWSL Draft by the Sky Blue FC, now Gotham FC. Viens was one of four Pro Bulls to participate in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
