Tampa, Fla., Jan. 11, 2024 – The University of South Florida track and field open their 2024 indoor season this weekend at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational hosted by the Gainesville Sports Commission in Gainesville, Fla.
 
The Bulls return to the field and jump back into action at 9:00 am with the men's pole vault final featuring Kobe Babin, Noah Bitter, and Andreas Kreiss competing for the Bulls. The women's pole vault final will take place at 1:00 pm and include Ella Dolce, Madeline Dutz, Riley Hunt, and Elizabeth Lydon for the Bulls.
 
Jumps continue at noon with both the men's and women's long jump final taking place concurrently. The women will see with Annia Ashley, Shaniya Benjamin, and Kendall McDaniel compete, while Elisha Teneus-Claude takes the field for the men.
 
At 3:00 pm, Ryan Lewis will represent the Bulls in the women's triple jump final, and at the same time, Kendell Mosley will close out South Florida's jump competition for this meet in the men's high jump final.
 
Throwing competition begins with the women's weight throw final at 11:30 am and will showcase Alliya Boothe, Annalee Harbison, and Alexandria Hunter.
 
The women throwers are followed by Aidan Marsh's participation in the 2:00 pm men's shot put final. Then Antonia Sealy and Madeline Abega join Boothe and Hunter to close out field events with the 3:30 pm women's shot put final.
 
The Bulls hit the ground running with track events at 11:00 am when Amenda Saint-Louis competes in the women's mile final. The men will run the 800m at 2:10 pm and will race Devontie Archer, Tre'Sean Bouie, Aidan Dixon, Nathan Metelus, Gabriel Moronta, Daunte O'Banion, and Shevioe Reid.
 
The 60m hurdles prelims will take place for the men at noon and feature Michael Bourne III, Tyler Drew, Markel Jones, and Darian Mills. If they should advance to the finals, they will take place at 1:40 pm. The women will race their prelims at 12:15 pm as Sealy represents the Bulls. If she should advance, finals are at 1:30 pm.
 
At 12:30pm the 60m prelims begin for the women, with the Bulls sending out Zahria Allers-Liburd, Benjamin, Amani Kirnon, and Lynette Scutari. The finals for the women will take place at 1:50pm. The men participate in the 60m at 12:45 pm and will trot out Jaleel Croal, Jermaine Dyges, Zayquan Lincoln, Shomari Pettigrew. Their finals will be at 1:45pm.
 
The Bulls will then send out Joshua Crum to compete in the men's 400m final at 1:10pm. The women will compete in the 800m at 1:55 pm, racing Abega, Je'Nyia Burton, Terren Peterson.
 
Lastly, competition will conclude with the women's 4x400 relay final at 4:00 pm and the men's at 4:15 pm.

About USF Track and Field

The USF track and field team has earned 56 All-America selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Romaine Beckford won the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championship in the men's high jump. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record, earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season, the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.
