Tampa, Fla. Jan. 13, 2023ย โ South Florida women's basketball (11-6, 3-1) heads to the Lone Star State for a pairing at Rice (8-6, 2-1) in Houston, Texas on Sunday afternoon. Tipoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. ET and the game will air live on ESPNU.

SETTING THE STAGE
The Bulls are riding a two-game win streak and have won three of their last four contests. USF is looking to hit yet another program milestone, as South Florida needs a single victory to reach 750 all-time program wins. Rice has captured two of its last three games and is coming off a 61-54 loss to Charlotte.

THE SOUTH FLORIDA-RICE SERIES
Sunday's clash will be the second-ever meeting between the Bulls and Owls and the first in 34 years. The series began during the 1989-90 season. USF captured the first meeting, 65-64, in Tampa, Fla. (Dec. 28, 1989).

Freshman guard Vittoria Blasigh's career-high 35 points helped South Florida to a 68-52 win against Tulsa on Wednesday night in the Yuengling Center. Blasigh's 35-point night marked the first 35-plus-point game by a Bull in nearly five years. (Doesn't include 40- plus point games) ย Redshirt junior Romi Levy added 11 points, four assists, two rebounds, and a single steal on the night. Levy has scored in double-digits eight times this season.

South Florida is led by freshman guard Vittoria Blasigh (15.0 ppg). Blasigh (49 3PM) is ranked 9th nationally in total 3-pointers made. Redshirt junior forward Romi Levy (10.9 ppg) is the second Bull averaging double-digit points. Levy earned AAC Honor Roll with back-to-back career-highs - 24 points against Charlotte and 32 points in the win at Tulane. ย Senior forward Evelien Lutje Schipholt leads on the glass with 7.6 rebounds per contest, which ranks 7th in the American. Redshirt senior guard Aerial Wilson dishes out a team-best 4.2 assists per contest. Wilson's 74 total assists ranks second in the American.

South Florida women's basketball recorded its 11th 20-win season during the 2022-23 campaign. USF has made 18 postseason tournament appearances and had nine NCAA Tournament berths in head coach Jose Fernandez's 23 seasons. The all-time winningest coach in program history, Fernandez has guided USF to 11 20-win seasons, two WNIT final four appearances, the 2009 WNIT championship, has won over 400 career games, and is the all-time wins leader in the American Athletic Conference.

In 2022-23, the Bulls had four players recognized by The American for impressive seasons, including Elena Tsineke (AAC Co-Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team), Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu (AAC Co-Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team), Sammie Puisis (AAC Newcomer of the Year, All-Conference Second Team) and Carla Brito (AAC All-Freshman Team).
