Men’s Tennis recruiting class ranked No. 23 in the country

USF is tabbed No. 23 by the Tennis Recruiting Network.

TAMPA (January 29, 2024) – The Tennis Recruiting Network has announced its Top 25 recruiting classes for NCAA Division I institution's signees entering the Fall of 2024. The University of South Florida has been ranked No. 23 by the publication with five new Bulls destined for Tampa for the 2024-25 season.

South Florida finished ahead of Indiana and Ohio State in the Top 25 poll.

The Bulls' incoming class includes: Michael Chan, Ettore Danesi, Stepan Mruzek, Guglielmo Verdese and Hugo Car.

"I am very excited about this class of recruits and look forward to them joining our South Florida family," said head coach Ashley Fischer. "This group of young men have impressed Coach Wolff and I immensely, both on and off the court. We have aggressive goals for the coming years and are confident we have the right young men to achieve them."

Mruzek has a University Tennis Rating (UTR) of 12.69 and holds a No. 84 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior ranking.  Verdese holds a 12.21 UTR and is No. 301 in the ITF Junior rankings. Danesi is a four-star recruit that is ranked No. 82 nationally (ITF) and No. 11 in Florida along with an 11.49 UTR. Chan's ITF World Tennis Number (WTN) is 13.2. Car, a transfer from Eastern Florida State, is an ITA JUCO All-American and currently ranked No. 1 in the ITA JUCO Rankings. He has a 12.40 UTR.

Head coach Ashley Fisher is in his ninth year at the helm of the program for the 2022-23 season. Fischer has guided the Bulls to four NCAA Tournaments, including three trips to the second round. He was named the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2017 & 2019 after leading USF to the conference title in each of those seasons.
