TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 4, 2024 – South Florida men's soccer (3-2-4) returns to Tampa to start a two-game homestand against Temple (2-5-3) on Saturday night at Corbett Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will air live on ESPN+.
 
SETTING THE STAGE
The Bulls look to rebound following their road loss to Charlotte. USF will attempt to stay undefeated in home conference play. The Owls seek to break a three-game skid.
 
SOUTH FLORIDA-TEMPLE SERIES
Saturday night is the 15th all-time meeting between USF and Temple. The Bulls lead the series (9-3-2). The last showdown resulted in a tie, 1-1 (Oct. 14th, 2023). South Florida has won four out of the last five matches.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Gunnar Studenhofft secured the only goal of the game in USF's loss at Charlotte on Friday. This was Studenhofft's third goal of the season. Goalkeeper Felix Schaefer posted a season-high eight saves. It was the USF's first defeat since the season opener against Seattle, 4-1 (Aug. 22, 2024).
 
SCOUTING THE TEMPLE OWLS
Edgar Bazan scored the only goal for Temple in their 1-1 tie to FAU. Bazan is tied for the team lead in goals, as six players currently hold one goal on the season.
 
ALUMNI NIGHT
Saturday's match is the program's annual Alumni night. The Bulls are proud to welcome back over 30 alumni spanning the last five decades.
 
A LOOK AHEAD
South Florida closes out non-conference play against in-state foe Stetson on Tuesday, Oct. 8th. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will stream live on ESPN+.

USF Men's Soccer competed in the school's first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3. Since then, the oldest program on campus has built a winning tradition, claiming 14 conference championships and making 22 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 3 trips to the elite eight.
 
The program also has a strong reputation within the professional game and boasts 30 MLS draft picks. Notable alumni include two-time MLS Golden Boot winner Jeff Cunningham, USA 1994 World Cup star Roy Wegerle, and 2013 MLS Cup winner Dom Dwyer. Men's Soccer has two Alumni and a coach in the USF Athletics Hall of Fame: Fergus Hopper and Jeff Attinella, & Dan Holcomb. Cunningham has also been selected to join the USF Athletics Hall of Fame this Fall.

The Bulls have reached the NCAA Tournament 13 times over the past 22 seasons.
