USF Women’s Tennis wraps up fall slate

The Bulls competed at the UNF Fall Invite and the W15K Lincoln to conclude the fall portion of their schedule.

TAMPA (November 5, 2024) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team competed in a pair of events to conclude the fall portion of their 2024-25 schedule. The Bulls competed in the UNF Fall Invite in Jacksonville and the ITF W15K Lincoln in Nebraska.

At the UNF Invite, freshmen Charlotte Ruud, Josefine Falster and Karine Kulidjian each picked up opening round wins in their respective flights.

The doubles team of Falster and Ruud won Flight 1 West with a 7-5 victory over a tandem from North Florida. Dharani Niroshan and Margherita Marcon earned a 7-6 (7-2) win in doubles play to advance to the finals of Flight 2 West.

The team of Kulidjian and Kelly Vargas posting an opening round 6-3 doubles win in Flight 3. Gargi Pawar teamed with a player from Furman University and reached the finals of the same flight.

At the ITF event in Lincoln, Nebraska, Marcon and Sienna Leeson each picked up opening wins in the qualifying draw before falling short in the finals to reach the main draw. Leeson was a 6-0, 6-0 winner while Marcon tallied a 6-2, 7-5 victory over her country made from Italy.

The duo teamed up for doubles action as well, but dropped a 6-2, 6-2 match to the No. 1 overall seed.

Head coach Cristina Moros, a former collegiate national champion and four-time All-American, is in her 10th year at the helm entering the 2024-25 season. She was named the 2017 AAC Coach of the Year after leading the Bulls to the conference championship that season.
