TAMPA, Fla. (December 28, 2024) – The University of South Florida men's basketball team wrapped up the 2024 non-conference schedule against Webber International on Saturday. The Bulls produced the largest margin of victory in program history, 57, with the 106-49 win against the Warriors. The 106 points are tied for the ninth most in program history.
For the first time since 2000, the Bulls recorded back-to-back games with 23 or more assists. South Florida finished the game shooting 58.3 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from 3-point range. It is the first time since 2002 that USF has shot at least 55.0 percent from the field and 35.0 percent from behind the 3-point line in back-to-back games.
South Florida improved to 7-6 on the season, while Webber International fell to 3-10.
Brandon Stroud recorded a game-high 16 points.
Kobe Knox posted his second-straight game in double figures with 15 points. USF improved to 12-0 at home when Knox scored in double digits.
Quincy Ademokoya and
Jamille Reynolds added 14-point performances for the Bulls.
De'Ante Green closed out the double-digit scorers with 13 points.
The Warriors opened the game with a 9-4 run while shooting 80 percent from the field.
The Bulls picked up the intensity and answered with an 8-0 to take a 12-9 lead. The eight unanswered points were part of a 12-5 run, which gave USF a 16-14 lead with 11:14 left in the first half. Stroud accounted for four points during the run, while Ademokoya knocked down a 3-pointer.
South Florida extended its lead to 28-17 after a 12-3 run. Stroud accounted for four points during the run, and
Kasen Jennings ended the run with a 3-pointer.
The Bulls kept the pressure up and outscored the Warriors 13-2. Knox, Ademokoya, and
Jimmie Williams knocked down back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers during the run. South Florida held a 41-19 lead with under four minutes left until the break.
USF extended its lead to 54-26, closing out the half outscoring WIU 13-7. The Bulls shot 62.5 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from 3-point range. The 28-point lead tied the largest margin at the half. It was the first time the Bulls held a 28-point lead at the half since 1985.
After Jennings scored the second half's first points, Reynolds scored six straight points.
CJ Brown added a layup as the Bulls outscored the Warriors 10-4 and extended their lead to 64-30.
Reynolds scored the game's next four points, including an emphatic slam. The two sides scored nine points each as USF held a 77-38 lead with 11:27 left on the clock.
South Florida kept the pressure on and held Webber International to two points over the next three minutes and extended its lead to 88-41. During the run, Stroud recorded back-to-back dunks for the Bulls.
South Florida closed out the game by outscoring Webber International 18-8. The Bulls won 106-49.
Williams dished out a career-high six assists, while Brown added five. Green brought down a game-high eight rebounds, while Ademokoya collected seven.
Jayden Reid tied a career-high five steals.
South Florida forced Webber International to have 22 turnovers as a team, resulting in 36 points. The Bulls were careful with the ball and only had two turnovers, the fewest since at least 1996. USF dominated in the paint and outscored WIU 58-14 down low. The South Florida bench outscored the Webber International bench 55-12.
Gabriel Sorensen led the Warriors with 14 points. Khalyl Simmons was the only other player in double figures with 12. Jordan Golden led Webber International with five rebounds.
