Softball Falls to Oregon State

TAMPA, Feb. 10, 2024 – The University of South Florida softball team (3-1) fell to the Oregon State Beavers (2-2) 7-1 for its first loss of the season on Saturday night.
Oregon State struck first in the opening frame with a solo home run to left field. The Beavers extended their lead to 2-0 with a run in the top of the third.
South Florida was held hitless until the third inning when Kathy Garcia-Soto (Tampa) showed her speed to beat the throw to first. Jordyn Kadlub (Wesley Chapel) followed up with a single, but the Bulls were left stranded.
A nine-pitch battle at the plate resulted in a double from Camille Ortiz-Martinez (Salinas, Puerto Rico) to put a runner in scoring position for South Florida in the fifth inning. Alyssa Rano (Seminole) pinch-ran and advanced on a groundout from DaNia Brooks (Tampa). The Bulls got a run on the board with a ground out from Emma Humplik (Orange, Texas) to score Rano.
The Bulls had the bases loaded in the sixth inning after back-to-back Beaver errors and a single from Alanah Rivera (St. Petersburg) but were left stranded.
