USF Men’s Golf Finishes 14th at Pauma Valley Invitational

The Bulls were led by Brock Healy who finished with a score of 215 (+2).

TAMPA, FLA., March 19, 2024 – The University of South Florida men's golf team finished 14th at the Pauma Valley Invitational on Tuesday. Brock Healy led the way for the Bulls, closing with 74 (+3) in the final round.

The Bulls have finished in the Top 4 in six of the eight tournaments this season, including two wins in the Fall and a second and third-place finish in the first two tournaments of the Spring. 

In 54-hole event in California, the No. 42-ranked Bulls recorded a final score of 870 (+18) to finish 14th in a field in which 13 of the 15 teams were ranked in the Top 80 in the country.

The Bulls opened with a 288 (+7) in the first round, improved five shots, carding a 283 (+2) in the second round. In the closing round, USF finished out the invite with a score of 299 (+15).

Graduate student Brock Healy (Norcross, Ga.), who captured his first win as Bull in the Fall, paced the Bulls. Healy shot 215 (+2) to finish. He was at par or better the first two rounds, shooting an even-par 71 in the first round and a 70 (-1) in the second round. Healy closed with a  74 (+3).

Jake Peacock (Milton, Ga.), a junior and the AAC Men's Golfer of the Week following his win at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate, finished in a tie for 51st. A member 2022-23 AAC Men's Golf All-Conference Team, Peacock opened with an even-par 71, followed by a 74 (+3) in the second round. Peacock closed with a 74 (+3).

Redshirt junior Cooper Smith (Tampa, Fla.) finished in a tie for 49th. Smith opened with a pair of one-over 72's and closed with a 74 (+3).

Senior Sam Nicholson (Atlantic Beach, Fla.), who notched a win and his fifth Top 10 finish as a Bull in the Fall, opened play with an eagle on his first hole. Nicholson went on to shoot 74 (+3) in the opening round. He improved to 68 (-3) in the second round, carding four birdies. Nicholson closed with a 77 (+6) to finish.

Junior Shubham Jaglan (Jr., Delhi, India) opened with a 74 (+3). He contributed a scoring round of 73 (+2) in the second round and finished up with a 77 (+6) putting him in a tie for 56th place.

About USF Men's Golf
The USF men's golf program has captured 17 conference titles and has seen players earn 19 All-America honors. The Bulls have won five American Athletic Conference Tournament championships in wire-to-wire fashion, winning four-consecutive from 2015-18. The Bulls have had four individual conference champions, including Albin Bergstrom in 2021, and gone on to earn nine straight NCAA Regional appearances, including a 6th place finish in NCAA Championship match-play in 2015.
