TAMPA (March 25, 2024) – The University of South Florida sailing team finished as the top public school in the Dublin Women's Team Race this weekend and placed third in the SAISA Conference Women's Invitational.

USF competed in two different tournaments this weekend. The starters sailed in the Dublin Women's Team Race in Boston, and the second string competed in the SAISA Conference Women's Invitational hosted by Rollins College.

The starters were up against stiff competition as they competed against eight top ten ranked teams in the country. Throughout the weekend, USF competed in temperatures in the 40's on Saturday with pouring rain all day and flood advisories, and then temperatures in the 30's on Sunday with chunks of ice covering the docks and boats.

Sailing for USF were seniors Emma Shakespeare and Hannah Marsicano, juniors Kay Brunsvold, Kalea Woodard, Heidi Hicks, and Janie Powell, and freshman Kailey Warrior

At the SAISA Conference Women's Invitational, USF finished third overall, beating both University of Florida and Florida State.

Freshman Marina Dreyfuss finished second in A division with freshman Aicha Smati and sophomore Madisen Hamai alternating as crews. Sophomore Cate Brennan sailed with junior Ochi Fernando to finish fourth in B division in their first regatta together.
