GAME NOTES: South Florida | Tulane
TAMPA (April 8, 2024) – After completing a four-game homestand sweep, the University of South Florida Bulls travel to Tulane for a pivotal three-game series against the Green Wave on April 12-14. South Florida is riding its fourth four-game winning streak of the season.
The Bulls enter the weekend tied for second in the conference standings with No. 9 ECU following a three-game sweep of Wichita State last weekend. Tulane sits in eighth place to begin the series.
South Florida and Tulane have split their last 10 meetings dating back to 2021 with each side winning two of three in their most recent home series. The Bulls last won a series in New Orleans in 2001.
Following the brief road trip to New Orleans, the Bulls will return to Tampa for an eight-game homestand – their longest of the season.
John Montes continues to lead USF in batting average (.387) and has reached base safely in 15 straight games. Montes ranks second in RBI (30) behind Jackson Mayo (33). Mayo, Montes and Ben Rozenblum each have six home runs this season.
Drew Brutcher enters the weekend ranked seventh in the NCAA with 36 walks – just one off his career high. Marcus Brodil carries a career-best 10-game hitting streak into the Tulane series.
The USF pitching staff posted a 2.92 ERA (37.0 IP/12 ER) with 35 strikeouts and just five walks over the most recent four-game homestand. Hunter Mink and Jack Cebert each logged quality starts and both posted quality starts against Tulane last season.
