Belle Sardja (Gibsonton) was named this week's American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, while first-year infielder
DaNia Brooks (Tampa) earned a spot on the Honor Roll.
Sardja made two appearances this week with one start. In Saturday's 5-0 win over Wichita State, Sardja pitched a complete-game shutout, her second of the season. She was one hit and one walk from a perfect game on Saturday. Sardja was the first pitcher since May 21, 2022, to hold the Shockers to one or fewer hits in a game. In Sunday's series-clinching win, Sardja pitched 3.2 scoreless innings, earning her 12
th win.
Brooks earned a start in all four games this week. In 12 plate appearances, she garnered seven hits, five RBI, two doubles, and the first home run of her career for a .583 average. In South Florida's 7-4 upset win over No. 9 Florida, Brooks was smart at the plate, earning the go-ahead RBI walk in the fifth inning. On Sunday, Brooks' first home run tied the game at two in the fourth inning. In the fifth, she hit the game-winning RBI double to seal the series against Wichita State.
