Tampa, Fla. April 6, 2024 – The University of South Florida track and field women kept up the men's Friday success on Saturday at the South Florida Invitational in Tampa.
Four different Bulls set new top-15 Division I NCAA marks on the afternoon.
Shaniya Benjamin ran a program record 11.33 time to win the women's 100m dash, which ranks 33rd-best in the NCAA this season.
Zahria Allers-Liburd finished third with an 11.43 time, the second-fastest in program history and 58th-fastest in the NCAA this season.
In the women's 100m hurdles,
Chakiya Plummer finished third with a 13.53 time.
Terren Peterson took first in the women's 400m dash with a 52.93 time, the second fastest in program history, and 26th-best in the NCAA this season. In the same heat,
Je'Nyia Burton took second place with the 30th-fastest time in the NCAA this season (53.12).
In the 4x100 relay, the Bulls tried out a new A-team of Zahria Aller-Liburd,
Terren Peterson,
Lynette Scutari, and
Gianna Hansen and they took first place with the seventh-fastest time in program history (44.74).
Shaniya Benjamin finished third in the women's long jump with the 18th-best jump in the NCAA this season (6.39m/20'-11.75").
Molie Jean Baptiste finished second in the high jump with the fourth-highest jump in program history (1.75m/5'-8.75").
In the women's shot put, Jazmyn James took second place with the third-best throw in program history (15.68m/51'-5.50").
The women's pole vault saw
Madeline Dutz take third place (3.75m/12'-3.50").
Alexandria Hunter had the seventh-best hammer throw in program history (54.93m/180'-2.00") on Saturday.

The USF track and field men's team won the 2024 Indoor AAC Championship. Romaine Beckford won the 2023 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the men's high jump as a Bull. The team has earned 56 All-America selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.
