TAMPA, Fla. – The University of South Florida (USF) Track and Field team delivered an impressive showing this weekend, highlighted by several record-breaking performances and top finishes across multiple events.
New Program Records Set
Markel Jones shattered the USF men's 60m hurdles record, clocking a time of 7.78 and breaking David Aristil's 2011 record of 7.79.
Kobe Babin soared to new heights in the pole vault, clearing 5.53m to surpass his previous program record of 5.38m. Babin's performance also makes him the #2 NCAA pole vaulter in the nation.
Jason Nwosu broke the men's shot-put record with a throw of 17.73m, eclipsing Johann Jeremiah's 2023 mark of 17.02m. Nwosu also placed third in the men's weight throw with a mark of 17.43m.
Top Individual Performances
Madeline Abega secured third in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.57, followed closely by teammate Gianna Hansen in fourth (8.67).
Jermaine Dyges finished third in the men's 60m dash with a time of 6.74.
Shaniya Benjamin claimed first place in the women's long jump with a leap of 6.14m. Teammate Nischa King followed in fourth place (5.68m), while Tristen Evatt rounded out the group in 19th (5.10m).
Goodness Iredia dominated the men's triple jump, earning first place with a mark of 16.26m. Javon Brown, in his debut meet for the Bulls, finished third (15.34m).
Mimansa Dahiya led the women's triple jump with a first-place finish at 12.41m.
Kendell Mosley delivered dual standout performances, finishing first in the men's high jump (2.05m) and ninth in the men's long jump (6.91m).
Aidan Marsh secured fourth place in the men's shot put with a mark of 14.58m.
Annalee Harbison achieved a 10th-place finish in the women's weight throw with a mark of 15.87m.
Team Relay Highlights
The Bulls' men's 4x400m relay team of Nathan Metelus, Shevioe Reid, Gabriel Moronta, and Michael Bourne III secured second place with a time of 3:09.19.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Malaysia Johnson, Amenda Saint Louis, Skyler Watts, and Adalin Robinson also placed second, clocking in at 3:47.10.
Additional Notable Performances
In the women's pole vault, Ella Galloway and Ella Dolce finished third and fourth with marks of 3.85m, while Audrey Wuerffel placed seventh (3.55m).
Javell Brown earned fifth place in the men's triple jump with a jump of 14.99m.
Rushana Dwyer placed fifth in the women's 800m run, clocking a time of 2:12.76.
