Tampa, Fla. – Jan. 31, 2025 – South Florida women's basketball (14-8, 7-2 AAC) welcomes North Texas (16-5, 8-1) to the Yuengling Center for their second meeting of the season on Saturday, Feb. 1. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the action will stream on ESPN+.
 
SETTING THE STAGE
The Bulls closed out January on a three-game win streak and are looking to open February with a win. The Mean Green have won nine of their last 10 games and are on a five-game hot streak.
 
THE SOUTH FLORIDA-NORTH TEXAS SERIES
Saturday is the 4th meeting between the two squads. UNT holds a 2-1 all-time advantage against USF. The last clash was a 72-65 road loss for the Bul­ls in Denton, Texas (Jan. 11, 2025).
 
BEST OF THE BULLS
The Bulls are led by graduate guard Sammie Puisis (14.8 ppg.) and sophomore guard Vittoria Blasigh (10.1 ppg.) (Puisis is ranked 4th in the nation with 66 total 3-pointers made and 10th in 3FG Made Per Game (3.0 3FGM). Junior forward Carla Brito holds a team-best 7.7 rebound average. (6th in the American). Senior forward L'or Mputu has a 7.3 rebound average (8th in the American). The Duo leads the AAC with a combined 15.0 Rebound Average. Graduate guard Mama Dembele is USF's top assister with 5.1 apg. (112 total assists ranked 18th nationally). In the latest NCAA Nitty Gritties Report, South Florida is ranked 50 NET SOS, 64 in the NET, and 5 in the NET Nonconference Schedule.
 
ADDITIONAL NOTES
 
USF leads the AAC and ranks 12th in the NCAA in fewest points allowed in the 4th quarter (14.2 ppg.). USF has started conference play at 7-2 or better for the fourth time in the last five seasons (2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23). No other AAC team has done so more than twice over that same time frame. L'or Mputu has recorded at least a 50.0 field-goal percentage and five rebounds in 12 straight games, the second-longest active streak in DI behind Wyoming's Allyson Fertig (17). It is the longest streak by any USF player in the last 25 years. Mama Dembele has 15 games this season with at least three assists and two steals, tied for the third most in DI. The last USF player to have that many such games in a single campaign was Andrell Smith in 2012-13 (16).
